In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus speaks words that reach directly into the human heart: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.”
At the last supper with His disciples, He speaks these words not in a moment of peace, but in a moment of uncertainty. The disciples are confused. The future feels unclear. Fear is beginning to take hold. And into that very real human experience, Jesus does not offer explanations, He offers Himself. He says: “I am the way and the truth and the life.”
This is one of the most powerful truths of our faith. Jesus does not simply point us in the right direction, He is the direction. He does not merely give us good advice; He gives us His very life. In a world that often presents many paths, many voices, and many competing truths, Jesus reminds us that our foundation is not an idea, but a Person.
And this changes everything. Because when life feels uncertain… when we carry burdens, questions, or fears… the answer is not simply to figure everything out. The invitation is to trust Him more deeply. Faith is not about having all the answers; it is about knowing the One who is faithful.
Jesus continues: “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places… I go to prepare a place for you.”
These words speak to a deep longing within every human heart, the desire to belong, to be known, and to have a place. In a world where many feel isolated, overlooked, or unsure of where they stand, Jesus gives us this assurance: You have a place. Not by chance, but by love. Not temporarily, but eternally.
And that truth is not just about the future, it speaks to our lives now. If a place has been prepared for us in the Father’s house, then our lives here are not random or without purpose. We are called to live as people who already belong to God, bringing that same sense of belonging, peace, and hope to others.
So perhaps the question for each of us this week is simple: Where am I looking for direction? Where am I placing my trust?
If your heart feels troubled, bring it to Jesus. If you feel uncertain, walk with Him. If you are searching for meaning, remember: your place is already prepared.
May we not only believe in Jesus, but learn to trust Him more fully each day. And may our lives reflect that trust, so that others, too, may come to know the peace that only He can give.
Be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
