Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (also known as Lay Eucharistic Ministers or (EMs) are members of our parishes who are invited by the pastor to be commissioned to assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and by bringing Holy Communion to the sick or homebound.
Eucharistic Ministers must be Catholics whose lives give witness to the presence of God. According to Church code, they must have received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, be at least sixteen years of age and participate regularly in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church. If the extraordinary minister is married, the marriage must be recognized by the Church.
After completing all the necessary training and CORI paper work EMs will then be formally commissioned for ministry by the pastor and scheduled to serve.
