This special ministry has three aspects - bringing the person of Christ in the Eucharist; bringing the loving care of Christ in your person; and encountering Christ in the person you serve. This third aspect is the reward of the ministry!
"My 97 year old neighbor, whom I visit once a week, dresses in her Sunday best when I'm coming and never fails to say, 'How lucky am I?' to have someone bring her communion. I always answer,
"we're both lucky."
For the Homebound Ministry, teams of four visitors take turns visiting a homebound parishioner each week (once a month commitment for each team).
For the Nursing Home Ministry, a team visits Life Care Center of Acton on the first and third Wednesday of each month. They lead a Liturgy of the Word Communion Service for a group and also visit residents in their rooms. On the third Tuesday of each month, a team visits the Robbins Brook Community to provide just a Liturgy of the Word and Communion Service.
To participate in this Eucharistic ministry, you must be trained and formally commissioned as an Eucharistic Minister.
Rosary Ministry - In conjunction with the Eucharistic ministry, at both Life Care and Robbins Brook, volunteers gather with residents to pray the Rosary immediately prior to the Communion Service. There is a great need for more volunteers to lead this beautiful prayer devotion.
