What is Anointing of the Sick?
Anointing of the Sick is performed by a priest when a person is seriously ill, elderly, awaiting serious surgery or dying. The priest anoints the person on the head and hands with blessed oil and prays for God to bless and heal the sick person.
Why is Anointing of the Sick important?
Through the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, priests and the whole Church commend those who are ill to the mericiful care of our suffering and glorified Lord. This sacrament gains grace for the sick person and assures them that God may raise them up and save them.
Who Can Receive Anointing of the Sick?
Catholics who are very sick or at the point of death may request the Anoionting of the Sick. A person may receive this sacrament more
than once if they become very sick again.
Please contact our pastor, Fr. Jeff if you or a family member would like to request this sacrament.
